Kaoru Watanabe’s Resonance II: “Echology” (Jun.6, Tokyo)

Rheō Concert in Montreal’s MAI Theater
These photographs by John Sellekaers are of a concert I did in January of ’09 with Patrick Graham, Ben Grossman and dancer Tomomi Morimoto. The 3 days of shows commemorated the release of Patrick’s new CD, Rheō, “an eclectic, cinematic and expansive collection of original music for percussion, frame drums, taiko, vielle à roue, bamboo flutes, dan moi, melodica, pots, pans, toy accordion, and restless fingers.” The CD features collaborators Ben Grossman (vielle à roue & electronics), Kaoru Watanabe (Japanese and western flutes), Nicholas Williams (bamboo flutes),Debashis Sinha (percussion) and On Ensemble (taiko & percussion).

Taiko Center recital concert
On Dec the 21st, 2008, the Kaoru Watanabe Taiko Center had the first of what will be a biannual fundraising/student recital/ concert event at the Village@Gureje in Brooklyn, where the taiko classes themselves take place.
